Meet Lucy Lu – Christine’s Pet of the Week!

Lucy Lu is a precious 1-year-old pointer/terrier mix who came to the Humane Society of West Michigan through a shelter transfer from Tennessee. She does well with people and with other dogs and has a very sweet personality. Lucy Lu would make the perfect family dog and get ready because she loves to show affection!

Since it's officially the holidays keep the Humane Society of West Michigan in mind when considering donations, specifically Tuesday 11/29 because its Giving Tuesday (the Tuesday after Thanksgiving). The humane society partnered with Sheldon Cleaners and on this day, Sheldon Cleaners will be matching all donations made to Humane Society of West Michigan, dollar for dollar, up to $5,000. Supporters can donate online at or via check (made out to Humane Society of West Michigan) and mailed in to HSWM at 3077 Wilson NW Grand Rapids, MI 49534. Checks can be mailed in ahead of time and "Giving Tuesday" should be noted on the memo line to count towards the match.

Also, for donations, in general, those can be made more than just monetary. The Humane Society needs a lot to upkeep the shelter and taking care of the animals. Donations such as food, toys, treats, blankets, etc are all helpful and appreciated. Remember, the humane society is 100% donor funded so its the community's generous support that keeps the Humane Society running.
