Michigan Apple Crop Is A Good One
Prepare your secret apple pie recipe, this year's apple crop in Michigan is a big one.
According to Michigan Apples, 26 million bushels are expected to be produced this year. That 40% more than average and far ahead of last year's crop.
There are 900 family-operated apple farms in Michigan's Lower Peninsula and about 7.5 million commercial apple trees.
And here's a statistic that I am completely making up, but I'd be surprised if it isn't true. 30% of baby teeth lost in the fall are the direct result of eating a caramel apple. Michigan's large apple crop will have the tooth fairy working overtime.
I can't wait to visit a cider mill and enjoy some cider and donuts. Then I'll go home and pour my kids another glass of apple juice. Sorry Doctor Oz.
