While not everyone likes that fluffy white stuff, we bundle up in our warmest clothing and head outside to shovel and snow blow what ever mother nature leaves behind.

But then there are times like earlier this week when winter weather systems drop a massive amount of snow on the ground in a very short time.

Parts of Northern Michigan and The Upper Peninsula received two-three feet of snow in just two days.

One place in Northern Michigan got hit so hard by falling and drifting snow that people got stuck inside for several days until help could arrive and shovel them out.

Michigan Animal Shelter Employees Stay Overnight After Snowstorm

On Monday, The staff at the Upper Peninsula Animal Welfare Shelter who had already worked a full day made the decision to stay at the shelter overnight to make sure the animals would be taken care of the next morning.

It's a good thing they stayed overnight because between the falling and drifting snow the entrance to the building was completely covered by snow.

Photos posted on the shelters Facebook page show the front doors of the building completely covered by snow.

Another view from the inside show almost the entire front of the building covered by snow as well.

With the help of shovels, snowblowers, and a tractor all of the snow was cleared away and people were able to come in and out of the shelter.

I'm glad everyone is ok and that these animals are so loved and cared for.
