
Michigan Sports Nostalgia: Do You Remember These Defunct Teams?
Michiganders are blessed to have so many amazing sports teams to cheer for.

Some of the most iconic teams we have are the Lions, Tigers, Red Wings, Pistons, Spartans, and Wolverines and that's just scratching the surface.

There are also some amazing teams from the past that no longer exist.
I apologize if this sends you down a wormhole like it did me, but a coworker and I were talking about old sports teams in Michigan that no longer exist.
One of the teams that we both remembered were the Detroit Vipers.

The team was founded in 1969 as the Salt Lake Golden Eagles in Salt Lake City, they were purchased by Palace Sports & Entertainment and relocated to Auburn Hills, Michigan in 1994.
The Vipers played in the International Hockey League (IHL) which closed down in 2001.
I never made it to a game because I was too young to drive, but I remember seeing commercials on tv and thinking that the Vipers logo looked so cool.
As we talked more about the Vipers we started to wonder about other Michigan sports team that no longer exist.
That led us to go onto eBay where we stumbled upon some really cool Vipers memorabilia.
Let's take a look at other Michigan sports teams that no longer exist.
