Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth may be having real issues right now, but apparently they want to work it out. And by "they," we mostly mean "Miley Cyrus."

“[Miley and Liam] have been a bit rocky, but are not giving up,” a source revealed to E! Online. “They both want it to work.”

That may seem strange considering Hemsworth jetted off to Australia when things hit a really rough patch -- and also considering that Cyrus took that opportunity to prance around without her engagement ring to piss him off -- but the pair apparently aren't throwing in the monogrammed towel just yet.

“Miley and Liam are talking,” a source told Us Weekly, “But he needed a beat.”

E! News says that Hemsworth wasn't showing any signs of drama Down Under, where he was visiting family before doing a promotional tour for 'Empire State.'

“He doesn't seem especially sad [or] happy,” a source said. “He seems to be enjoying seeing his family as far as we can tell.”

Hemsworth has kept pretty mum about everything, even skipping out on -- and controlling reporters' questions for -- press for his upcoming film.

The same can't really be said for Cyrus. A source told PEOPLE she seems "exhausted" and is desperate for Hemsworth to come back, despite them appearing to have "split for now."

"She has no plans to see Liam but seems to be clinging to hope that they will get back together," the insider said. "Miley hasn't canceled the wedding."

She's since deleted the tweet, but ... she just happened to send out her ring for repairs when her fiance was spotted traipsing around elsewhere and some pretty legit media sources have lots of people saying they've split? That's a tough story to swallow.

The fact that Miley and Liam have no plans to see one another doesn't bode well for the couple, considering their scheduling problems were reportedly one of their biggest hurdles.

Here's hoping the wedding isn't the only reason she wants to keep Hemsworth around -- especially considering there are still those pesky January Jones cheating rumors lurking about.
