If you shopped at Target between Black Friday and Dec. 15, there's a chance that either your credit or debit card information might be compromised.

As many as 40 million customers could be affected by the breach, according to news reports.

Target, based in Minneapolis, Minn., is one of the top credit-card issuers in the United States as well as one of the nation's largest retailers.

Target has ensured customers that it has notified the proper authorities and the Secret Service has begun an investigation.

Target is asking customers who think they're seeing unauthorized activity to call: 866-852-8680. It also has information online.
