Multiple People Dead, Suspect In Custody in Kalamazoo Shooting Spree
UPDATE February 21, 3:00 p.m.: Police have identified the two people killed at Seelye Kia as Tyler Smith, 18, a senior at Mattawan High School, and his father, Richard.
UPDATE February 21, 11:30 a.m.: Michigan State Police have released the identities of four of the victims killed Saturday night. All four were killed at the Cracker Barrel. They are:
- Mary Lou Nye, 63, of Baroda, Mich.
- Mary Jo Nye, 60, of Battle Creek
- Dorothy Brown, 74, of Battle Creek
- Barbara Hawthorne, 68, of Battle Creek
UPDATE February 21, 9 a.m.: Police have identified the man they believe is responsible for the shooting spree in Kalamazoo Saturday night that left 6 dead, and two (including a 14-year-old girl) injured.
NBC News is reporting that 45-year-old Jason Brian Dalton has been arrested and is being questioned in connection with the shootings. The shootings at three different locations in Kalamazoo seem to be random, and no motive has been established.
ORIGINAL STORY: Multiple people are dead from shootings in Kalamazoo Saturday night.
At least six people have been killed.
WOOD-TV8 is reporting that the shootings have occurred in at least four different locations: a Cracker Barrel restaurant, a Ford dealership, Meadows Townhomes, and a location at OP Ave. and 6th (which is near the Cracker Barrel restaurant.
FOX-17 reports that the suspect in the shootings is a white man in his '50s driving a Chevy HHR.
WWMT is now reporting that police have a "strong suspect" in custody.
