And when a smaller community loses one of it's own, that's the ideal time to rally together and support their family, which is exactly what one Paw Paw business owner decided to do.

GG's Sweets in Downtown Paw Paw had a girl scout cookie bake off that was scheduled for Wednesday night as the storm rolled in, as as people stayed in, they didn't have the crowd they expected show up for the event.

After hearing about the tragic events that happened in town, they decided to make the most of their leftover stock.

We are heartbroken by the loss of the Paw Paw Firefighter. We have leftover desserts from the Girl Scout Cookie Bake-Off that we are selling for $5 each as a donation to the family. Show our community love and support with cash donations or purchase one of our thin mint pomegranate whoopie pies for $5 (cash only) and 100% of the donations will go to the firefighter's family.

The community heard, and came running, happy to spend $5 on a leftover Thin Mints whoopie pie to support a family in need in their own community.

Not only did GG's make good on their competition by getting these awesome treats out, they also were able to bring some joy and raise some money when a family in their community needs it the most.

If you'd like to help, they will still be taking donations until Saturday evening. There is also a gofundme set up through the fire department for his family, if you can't make it to Paw Paw to grab a sweet.
