West Michigan was hit with a brutal winter storm on Wednesday.

A Volunteer Firefighter who was both a Husband and Father died while responding to a downed power line from that winter storm.

How Was Ethan Quillen Killed?

The Fire Department responded to the report of a tree that fell on a power line near 30th Street and 42nd Avenue in Almena Township on Wednesday afternoon.

Paw Paw Fire Chief Jim DeGroff shared the sad details of what happened.

“The original power line was handled. A tree broke further down on the line and brought a more high voltage line down and when it happened, it snaked and there was no way to get away from it, Nothing that any human did or he did was wrong.”
