Swine-Assigning: Who Gets Custody of Pete Davidson’s + Ariana Grande’s Pig?
Happy as a pig in s---? Not so for Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson's prized pet, Piggie Smalls. Now that the couple have broken up and called off their engagement, the hog will have a happy home no more.
So the question remains: To whom will the swine be assigned?
Piggie, who's already made a pop star debut as the main feature of Grande's "breathin'" video, routinely pops up on the ex-couple's respective Instagram pages (Grande wrote "just after she s--- on my pillow" alongside the glamour shot below). And Davidson explained during a Late Night With Seth Meyers interview in September that the porker appeared in his home one day almost like magic.
"Can I just say [Grande] was like, ‘I want a pig!’ And then an hour later it was just there,” Davidson joked. “Like I’m still trying to get a Propecia refill for the last two weeks and this chick got a pig in a f------ hour.”
"I want it to get big and fat," Davidson added.
So, Ari's the one who scored the boar, but it's clear Davidson's got a sizable soft spot for the sow. Where's a shoat to go?
A trusted PopCrush source who works as an attorney (my dad, lol) told us that Piggie's future abode is not as much a matter of arguing over formal "custody" as it is a condition of general ownership.
"Generally speaking, pets are legally considered 'property.' In a break-up (not a divorce) the dispute is not over custody but over rightful ownership and you may have to sue your ex for property recovery. A judge will typically focus on the following factors in rendering a decision. (Unless, of course, there is a Pig Pre-Nup, which would control legal ownership).
Who takes this little pig to the market?
Who stays home with the little pig?
Who feed the little pig roast beef?
Who hugs the little pig after it cries 'wee, wee , wee' all the way home?
Ultimately, a judge will consider what is in the best interests of the pig and what makes a pig happy."
Guess that means Grande gets Piggie. We hope she doesn't hog her.
