For this week's Daddy Tips, Steve says don't let your toddler help change your infant's diapers, get ready for earworm songs from your kid's cartoons and movies, and take advantage of a kid's forgetfulness while you still can.

  1. This week’s first Daddy Tip is to not let your toddler help you change your infant’s poopy diapers. Charlotte loves helping out with Izzy, but when I started to let her help with diaper changing, things didn’t turn out how I thought they would. Charlotte loves to take charge and that means when we are changing diapers, she gets really hands on. And I made the mistake of letting her “help” me change a poopy diaper. Turns out that toddlers don’t have any finesse and just cleaning up a dirty diaper turned into cleaning up the changing table, Charlotte’s clothes, and myself because Charlotte got everything everywhere when she ripped that diaper off. So, don’t let your toddler change poopy diapers.
  2. The next Daddy Tip is to be ready to get annoying songs stuck in your head because of your kid’s cartoons and movies. Charlotte has been obsessed with Trolls: World Tour lately and I swear we watch that movie every single day and now I find myself constantly singing “Trolls just wanna have fun.” Like seriously? Now I see why Queen Barb wanted to destroy pop music. So, the best way to get those songs out of your head is to listen to our station all day and night. Duh!
  3. And the final Daddy Tip this week is to take advantage of a toddler’s forgetfulness as long as you can. When Charlotte was 2 I used to be able to tell Charlotte we were going to do something later and then 9 times out of 10 she would forget about it. Well, now that little tactic doesn’t work anymore because she’s 3 and is starting to have the memory capacity of a normal human being. Now, anything I tell her we will do later she remembers and we actually have to do it. So, no more saying we can play with Play-Doh later and then just doing something less messy that requires less cleanup later. So take advantage of your toddler’s forgetfulness while you still can!

And now it’s time for an awesome Dad Joke!

Q: Why is dark spelled with a K?
A: Because you can't c in the dark.
