As a Kentucky transplant, I never thought I’d be this emotional over chicken. But now that Raising Cane’s is officially opening a second West Michigan location, and I’m fully preparing to spend all my free time (and money) there since it's coming to my neighborhood this time.

The Grandville City Planning Commission has approved a special land use permit for Raising Cane’s to build near Rivertown Crossings Mall at 3980 Rivertown Parkway.

The restaurant will feature a drive-thru, indoor seating, and a patio. It appears it will be very similar in size as it’s sister location in Kentwood.

This marks the second West Michigan location, following the first set to open this November in Kentwood. That means both sides of Grand Rapids will soon have access to crispy chicken fingers, buttery Texas toast, and that legendary Cane’s Sauce.

Planning Commissioner Jason Flanigan spilled the sweet tea on the fact the city was excited to see the former Sears Auto Center having a new business take over.

Cane’s fans know what’s coming: But for those of you who aren’t already obsessed like me, you’ll get simple, high-quality chicken meals done right.

Every order comes with hand-battered chicken fingers, crinkle-cut fries, coleslaw, and toast. They will also gladly give you enough of that life-changing canes sauce to take home and use for the next six months if you ask.

As someone who grew up with Cane’s on every corner in Kentucky, this feels like a homecoming. And with Grandville just minutes from my house, well… let’s just say I might never financially recover.
