RECALL: Fruit Sold At Costco, Trader Joe’s, Walmart
A company in California has issued a voluntary nationwide recall of specific lots of its fresh peaches, plums, nectarines and pluots (a type of plum) because of concerns of possible listeria contamination.
Wawona Packing said on their website that no illnesses have been reported and that the recall is a precautionary measure.
The recalled fruit was packed and shipped to retailers from June 1 through July 12.
Retailers that received the fruit include Costco, Trader Joe's, Kroger, and Walmart.
This recall comes after internal testing at the packing house. Officials say they shut down the lines, fixed some of the equipment and completely sanitized the facility. Subsequent tests have been negative for contamination.
Listeria bacteria can cause a dangerous flu-like illness.
