A Rockford High School student is facing a terrorism charge after making more than 20 threats since October 2014.

WOOD-TV 8 reports that these swatting incidents resulted in 2,500 investigative hours, at cost to taxpayers.

The Kent County Sheriff's Department says it will be seeking $100,000 is restitution, the Rockford Public School system will seek $31,000.

The suspect is a 16-year-old from Belmont and was identified after a joint investigation with the Kent County Sheriff's Department, Rockford Department of Public Safety, and FBI.

The student has been charged with false report/ threat of terrorism, a 20 year felony.

A teen is Massachusetts has also been charged, and police are still investigating more suspects out of state and out of the country.
