“Run, Hide, Fight” Alert Issued at the University of Michigan
UPDATE: Police have confirmed that a group of girls popping balloons caused the panic that led to the "run, hide, fight" alert being issued.
UPDATE: Just after 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, the University tweeted that "there does not appear to be an active threat to the community, but that authorities were continuing to investigate the situation.
ORIGINAL STORY: The University of Michigan sent out an emergency alert Saturday, March 16 around 5 p.m. for all students in and near Mason Hall to "Run, Hide, Fight".
The university's Department of Public Safety website states that there have been "unconfirmed reports of an active shooter."
