Thousands in Financial Aid Coming to New Mothers in Grand Rapids and Muskegon

That's why when I see any kind of program that helps a mom out I love sharing it with you because there is a chance you or someone you know might benefit from what the program offers.

A program that will help provide financial support for new moms is expanding to include several West Michigan cities.

Rx Kids Program Coming To West Michigan

The Rx Kids program began in Flint in 2024, then it made its way to Kalamazoo in 2025 and coming in June, Grand Rapids 49507 zip code, Muskegon and Muskegon Heights will be included in the program.

What Does The Rx Kids Program Offer

The program helps new mothers-to-be by giving them $1,500 during their pregnancy and $500 a month during a baby's infancy to help cover all the essentials like diapers, formula and rent.

Norm Hess, Executive Director, Michigan Association for Local Public Health shared why this program is so important saying:

“The Rx Kids program is a powerful way to improve health outcomes for both moms and babies. When families have extra financial support during pregnancy and a baby’s first year, moms are better able to access care, manage stress, and have healthier pregnancies. That leads to stronger births and healthier babies. It’s a simple, effective approach that gives families what they need to get off to a healthy start and helps build healthier communities overall.”
