Should The N-Word Be Removed From “Huck Finn”?
Publishers of the book "The Adventure of Huckleberry Finn" are planning on printing a new version of the Mark Twain classic without racial slurs like "the n-word" and "Injun". There's been a lot of talk about this over the last week or so, and it seems that there's quite a debate.
On one hand, you have the publishers, and the people that are offended by that kind of language, saying that it's inappropriate. Especially for students. A point I completely understand.
On the other hand, you have the people who say that removing those words would make the work less powerful. A point I also understand.
I'm not sure yet where I stand on this one, what are your thoughts?
