Snow And High Winds Likely In West Michigan On Sunday
Get ready for the first dose of winter in West Michigan. Mother nature isn't wasting time when it comes to ushering in the snowy season. Only one day after Halloween, snow is officially in the forecast for most of Michigan, with up to 5 inches possible in northern parts of the lower peninsula.
The weather for October 31st and November 1st is almost perfect for the holidays, with some nice trick or treating weather on Halloween night (around 45-50 degrees, clear skies, and breezy) and then snow flurries on Sunday morning to usher in the beginning of the month of November.
The National Weather Service forecasts "West to northwest winds on Sunday will gust at times into the 45 to 55 mph range near Lake Michigan. Away from the lake...winds will gust to 40 to 45 mph. Scattered power outages are possible tonight and Sunday. Some light accumulations of snow are expected across Central Lower Michigan on Sunday."
Depending on which weather forecast you use, the likelihood of snow in West Michigan varies between about a 30% chance to a 60% chance. But, it's more likely than not to see some snow flakes at some point between late Saturday night and midday on Sunday. The precipitation in the forecast is likely to happen and since the temperatures will be low, it wouldn't be any surprise to see some flurries.
So, if you are ready for the snow, get excited because after some unseasonably warm temperatures in early November, we are looking at 30s and 40s for the rest of the month, and that can mean snow.
