As we now navigate what’s essential on nonessential business in the wake of the “Stay Put, Stay Sage” order the Governor signed Monday, we find out the SOS office is considered not that essential.

According to an announcement from the SOS office and on Facebook,  all Secretary of State branches will close temporarily starting Tuesday. Most services are still available on the SOS website but as of now, face-to-face transactions and renewals by mail aren’t possible.

If something expires (tags or driver’s license) during the closure time, the state will waive those fees.

Also, WOODTV says election-related services are also available through the website.  Secretary of State, Joycelyn Benson, said that elections happening in May will happen via an absentee ballot which every voter in that area will receive; you won’t need to request an absentee ballot this time around.
