Spice Girls Reunite to Announce ‘Viva Forever’ Musical Based on Their Hits
Girl Power still reigns supreme. The Spice Girls may not have reunited to perform for the Queen’s diamond jubilee earlier this summer, but the all five of the ladies turned up at the St. Pancras Hotel in London today (June 26) to announce details of ‘Viva Forever,’ a West End musical that will be based on their hits. The location of the meeting was special, since that’s where the ladies filmed their video for the smash hit ‘Wannabe’ back in 1996.
The Spice Girls, who are now Spice Women with families, reunited back in 2007 and 2008 for a tour. That was their last time coming together.
Melanie ‘Scary’ Brown, Melanie ‘Sporty’ Chisholm, Geri ‘Ginger’ Halliwell, Emma ‘Baby’ Bunton and Victoria ‘Posh’ Beckham all looked gorgeous and grown up at the event. Is it us or do they all look more beautiful as they inch closer to their 40s than they did as pretty young things in their 20s? We think so. Srsly.
According to Us Weekly, Sporty proclaimed, “It’s better than we could ever have imagined,’ while fashion designer Posh stated that the show will “be introducing a whole new generation to Girl Power.”
“Viva Forever’ was penned by Jennifer Saunders, the co-creator of ‘Absolutely Fabulous.’
Previews for the musical are set to begin on Nov. 27. The musical opens on Dec. 11 at the Piccadilly Theatre.
