Michigan Man Credited With Creating "Spring Break"
It sounds crazy to me but apparently spring break that we all know and love was created in a big part by a Professor at Michigan State University.
In the 1960's Glendon Swarthout was an english professor at MSU and wrote a book called "Where The Boys Are".
According to Good Reads the book is about a spring break trip taken in 1959.
Professor Glendon Swarthout took off with his English Honors students from Michigan State University to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, to soak up some sun, sand, suds, and sex.
The book ended up doing so well that it became a movie.

So, the next time you're on spring break, having a great time with friends and family, don't forget Professor Glendon Swarthout, who helped make it all possible.
