At 10:15 a.m. today, April 18, Wyoming Mayor Jack Poll declared a state of emergency in the city of Wyoming due to flooding issues. If residents have an urgent emergency or medical issue, they should call 911. For water-related non-emergency assistance or evacuation, a 24-hour hotline can be reached by calling (616) 530-7331. Some of us are considering buying the supplies to build an ark if this rain doesn't let up soon. I think it's a solid plan. Especially since, as of this morning, several roads are closed across West Michigan due to flooding. Our friends at WZZM-13 have compiled a list of the road closings that have been reported so far. There is a huge potential this week for flooding along the Grand River.  So far in April, our area is over 3 inches ABOVE the average monthly rainfall of 1.65 inches. The forecast for Thursday calls for rain in the morning and storms by afternoon, which could give us an additional 3 inches of rain...

As residents along the Mississippi River continued to cope with flooding on Thursday, the river, already at record levels, was set to crest in Vicksburg, Miss. on Thursday morning. The river was at 57.2 feet in Vicksburg on Wednesday morning, a level well above the previous record of 56.2 feet set on May 4, 1927, according to the National Weather Service. The river was expected to reach 57.5 feet

I hope you enjoyed the warm sunshine we had on Easter Sunday, like I did, because it may have been our only break from bad weather for another long stretch of time! Starting today through Thursday we are expected to get at least two inches of rain that may cause flooding along the Grand and Thornapple Rivers.
