Impressive legs, Heather!  Go Team USA!! Over the weekend, the USA Women's World Cup Soccer team advanced to the semi-finals following a nail biting overtime victory over Brazil that you have to see for yourself!! Team USA has a couple of days to practice and rest-up for Wednesday's match against France.

Today the U.S. Women’s Soccer Team advanced to the quarterfinals of the World Cup despite losing to Sweden 2-1.  Their next game will be on Sunday at 11:00am against Brazil. 2002 Portage Central graduate Lindsay Tarpley, one of Team USA's best players, has been forced to watch the entire tournament from home following a heartbreaking injury.

Phew, I'm glad that Justin Bieber didn't fall into the top slot of Twitter Trend's for the year.  Not that I have anything against him, it's just nice to see that he isn't on everyone's minds all the time.  The top 10 trends have a few obvious choices; the Haiti earthquake, the World Cup, and of course Bieber.  But their are a few that you wouldn't expect to have trended so high.  Read on to find

Despite former President Bill Clinton advocating for the World Cup to once again be played on American soil, the decision was made today that we will not host the largest sporting event in the world.  Well at-least not for 16 years...  FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association) announced today that Russia is to host the World Cup in 2018 and Qatar was to receive the honors in 2022.
