Taxes got you down? You're not the only one.

The IRS' Electronic Filing System was down for the most of the day, too. Yes, on Tax Day. For the majority of the day on Tuesday the system had crashed and was not working for many people.

This is the busiest tax day of the year, and the IRS apologizes for the inconvenience this system issue caused for taxpayers,” said Acting IRS Commissioner David Kautter.

In a statement released by the IRS today they announced that because of this issue fail they are giving tax payers a one-day extension. You will now have until midnight on Wednesday to get them filed and make the necessary payments. So any penalizations that you would've otherwise received will be null-and-void today.

CNN Money says that the problems likely came from the software providers that were sending people's returns into the system i.e. Turbo Tax.

& just a reminder that if you pay a Grand Rapids City Tax, you have until the 30th to get that filed. But today's events should be a lesson in not waiting until the very last minute to get your taxes done!
