West Catholic Grad Opens Smashburger Restaurant In Grand Rapids! [VIDEO]

A new restaurant opens today in Grand Rapids and offers the best burger in town!  Smashburger opened its doors inside the atrium of the hospital downtown, along the Medical Mile on Michigan Street. 

Founder and West Catholic grad, Tom Ryan, has a super impressive background in the food industry that started with getting his PhD at Michigan State University in Flavor and Fragrance Chemistry.  Sounds pretty cool, doesn't it?  Check out our chat from this morning to learn more about what he's achieved with his degree.

One great goal that has been met for the West Michigander is his national chain of Smashburger restaurants ... there are over 100 to date ... with another seven planned for this area to include Muskegon, Kentwood and Grand Rapids.

Just an aside, Tom is the man behind Stuffed Crust Pizza and Lovers line at Pizza Hut, McGriddles, Big 'n Tasty, Dollar Menu, and Fruit and Yogurt Parfaits at McDonald's. He also had his hand in Steakhouse Beef Dip, Prime Rib and Sammies at Quizno's.
