West Michigan Couple Prepares for Their Chance to be on Battlebots
If you've never seen the TV show Battlebots, you're missing out on one of the coolest ways we use and abuse technology for our own entertainment.
And maybe you're like me and you've dreamed of what you would build if you could to compete in one of televisions most unique competitions. Personally, my Battlebot would just be a Roomba with a cat on top, with a swinging knife.
Would I win? Probably not, but that's exactly why I'll leave it to the 'professionals' like Steve and Lorraine Abbott of Walker who are looking to compete in the show later this year.
They've been working hard on their Battlebot that has been named "Arachnophobia" because of it's similarities to a spider.
And I'm going to be honest, this is not a bot I'd want to meet in a dark alley. (Maybe it's because I really do have arachnophobia...
They recently unveiled the machine to fans and onlookers at the Peppermill Grill in Walker, and now they're getting ready for the big deal when they'll be flying to Las Vegas on September 30th to compete for their chance to make the show in 2024.
This thing is so cool, and just like anything of this nature, it took an entire team of people backing up the Walker couple to make this dream come true.
They've posted info on how you can support them in person:
But if a trip to Vegas isn't in your cards, you can support them by following their facebook page. Good luck, all of West Michigan is rooting you on!
