
Michigan Man Sentenced To 18 Months of Federal Prison For Threatening To Kill President Trump
A West Michigan man who made threats to kill President Donald Trump earlier this year has been found guilty and will be spending almost two years in federal prison.

Richard James Spring of Comstock Park, MI made comments on X and TikTok in late January of 2025 threatening violence against President Trump.

According to WLNS 6, The online posts that targeted President Trump and the president’s family, including
“I will make SURE he is assassinated.”
Trump’s family members were threatened with various forms of violence, including rape, in a series of social media posts rife with misspellings and grammatical errors.
A few months later on May 1, Spring pleaded not guilty to two counts of threatening to kill and injure the president, and two counts of interstate threatening communication, according to court records.
Then about a month later he took a plea deal with prosecutors where he agreed to pleaded guilty to one count of making threats to kill and injure the President of the United States and have the other charges dropped.
During his incarceration he is also recommend that he receives mental health and anger management counseling, as well as substance abuse programming during his prison term.
After spring completes his 18 month prison sentence and release he will have to pay a $2,000 fine and will be under supervised release for two years.
