Several West MI Schools Closed Leading up to Thanksgiving

With COVID cases on the rise in West Michigan and inclement weather possible throughout the area at the beginning of the week, several West Michigan school districts have decided to close Monday, November 22, 2021, and Tuesday, November 23, 2021.

Some school districts made the decision early, while others piled on throughout the weekend. Some, such as Thornapple-Kellogg are closing due to “staff illnesses and the inability to secure an adequate number of substitutes.”

The following schools in the area will be closed either Monday and Tuesday OR for the entire week.

In Allegan County:

Hamilton Community Schools - Closed November 22-26
Hopkins Public Schools - Closed Monday and Tuesday
Plainwell Community Schools - Closed November 22-26

In Barry County:

Thornapple-Kellogg Schools - Closed Monday and Tuesday

In Kent County:

Cedar Springs Public Schools - Closed November 22-26
Godfrey-Lee Public Schools - Closed Monday and Tuesday
Godwin Heights Public Schools - Closed Monday and Tuesday
Kellogsville Public Schools - Closed Monday and Tuesday
Wyoming Public Schools - Closed Monday and Tuesday

In Muskegon County:

Fruitport Community Schools - Closed Monday and Tuesday
Muskegon Community Schools - Closed Monday and Tuesday
Oakridge Public Schools - Closed Monday and Tuesday
Orchard View Public Schools - Closed Monday and Tuesday
Ravenna Public Schools - Closed Monday and Tuesday

In Newaygo County:

Grant Public Schools - Closed Wednesday, November 24, and Monday, November 30.
White Cloud Public Schools - Closed Wednesday, November 24, and Monday, November 30.

In Ottawa County:

Grand Haven Public Schools - Closed Monday and Tuesday
