If you’ve been downtown Grand Rapids recently, you may have noticed construction or possibly demolition on the old Huntington Bank building (now known as just 50 Monroe.)

The building happens to also be the home to Townsquare Media (Channel 95.7, WGRD, 98.7 FGR, River 100.5 and Magic 104.9), which is why I was stoked to see WOODTV outside doing an interview on Friday.  They found out exactly what it going on.

What we know as tenants is that they have plans to rehab the building in some way. There were plans posted on MLive a couple of years ago that show they wanted to take the black façade off and go back to brick.  Was this what was finally about to happen?

Well WOODTV found out they were just trying to see exactly what the building looks like behind the façade before they make the next plan. CWD Real Estate who owns 50 Monroe says they will now look at plans that combine the old brick look with a more modern look.

“Now we’re going back and we’re saying, ‘Well, we can make some combinations now that really look great,” said Sam Cummings with CWD Real Estate.
