Worst Date Ever: Michigan Woman Sues Her Date $50K Since He Stood Her Up
What would you do if you went on a date and the person stood you up?
Many people would say that they would just leave or go home and eat a tub of ice cream with their girlfriends.
Well, this woman took it to another level.
A woman from Flint is suing a man for $10,000 because he stood her up on a date that they had.
Yes, you read that correctly. 10 stacks!
QaShontae Short filed the lawsuit against Richard Jordan for a date that happened in 2020.
In legal documents that TMZ obtained, Short says Jordan hurt her feelings on purpose since he "did not show and left on [her] mother's birthday and [her] mom had just passed away."
The two made a 10-minute Zoom appearance for a court hearing and let's just say, it did not go the way you would think.
While Jordan was mostly quiet, the hearing starts off with Judge Herman Marable Jr. questioning why Richard was representing himself.
Jordan's response was:
"To be honest with you sir, I thought this was going to get thrown out. We went on one date - one date - and now I'm being sued for $10,000. I don't think this is going to go any further and I think it's a waste of your time."
Judge Marable Jr. ultimately seemed to agree with him, so QaShontae starts to argue with the judge because of how he was handling the case.
She accuses her date of committing perjury due to a misleading statement in a document he gave to the judge.
Short says "If he responds and his response is a lie, then it's perjury and my documents would prove it's a lie."
Clearly frustrated and tired of the case, Judge Marable Jr. yelled back:
"Bottom line you said it was a criminal offense so I will send it to circuit court. Are we done here? Are we done here? I know exactly what perjury means."
Rule of thumb, never make a judge mad, and make sure your date shows up.
