Parking Wars: GR

Okay, maybe not "Parking Wars" as we've seen on TV.  Although the fine is pretty outrageous, I can't argue or complain.  The GRPS people are doing their job.  And it's not like I came out to a boot or someone towing my car.

I fed the meter at 12:55 and had a lunch interview with a potential employee.  It ran long.  I came out at 2:20 to the lovely bright color you see above.

Understand, it's been a while since I've gotten a parking ticket...probably 12 years...and that was in another city that I love (just like I love GR), which was Cedar Rapids, Iowa.  But the fine then was just $7.

Imagine my surprise when I looked at the ticket and it was TWENTY BUCKS!  Holy crap.  Didn't see that one coming.  I'm making myself feel better by saying GR has such a nice downtown because it's financed in-part by me and other parking losers.

Don't get me wrong.  I absolutely LOVE Grand Rapids and fully appreciate the great downtown and everything that is here.

It's just that $20 bucks is a little steep, don't you think?
