Distracted Driving is one of the most preventable causes of accidents and deaths in Michigan. While we've passed laws that hope to keep this from being a problem, there are still people out there who think picking up their phone and sending a text is more important than being safe.

If you or someone who know is eyeing some extra cash for college, there's a great opportunity going on through the end of this week. Michigan Auto Law has teamed up yet again this year with The Kiefer Foundation for the 2024 Kelsey's Law Distracted Driving Awareness Scholarship. Here's the best news- they're doubling the people they help this year.

Instead of $5,000 worth of scholarships, they'll be giving out a whopping $10,000 total. And because of that – they're not just picking four winners, they're recognizing eight! That's double the chance to win some serious dough for your education.

This scholarship isn't just about the money, though. It's got some heart behind it. It's all in memory of Kelsey Raffaele, who tragically lost her life in a car crash because of distracted driving. Her loved ones want to make sure no one else loses their life this way. It's also in memory of Mitchel Kiefer, the namesake of  The Kiefer Foundation, who also lost his life the same way.

Their goal is to make a change, and to help along the way. (And that's where you come in.) If you're a high school junior or senior in Michigan, they would love to hear from you. They're looking for a message that'll make a difference to other teens and convince young drivers to keep their eyes on the road and off their phones.

Think you've got what it takes? Messages may be in the form of a video, graphic or Tweet (now known as an “X” post) that resonates with teens and influences their driving behavior. The deadline's been pushed back to April 7, 2024. Don't miss out on this chance to make a change – and maybe score some sweet scholarship cash while you're at it. Click here to apply now!
