Girl Scout cookie season starts in a couple of weeks in our area.  Can't wait for the Thin Mints and Samoas, plus an extra treat this year!  To celebrate the Girl Scouts' 100th anniversary a new cookie will make its debut:  Savannah Smiles.

Will Savannah Smiles taste as good as the rest?  And what is the all-time greatest Girl Scout cookie?

The Girls Scouts describe the new Savannah Smiles cookies as:

Lemon-wedge cookies dusted in powdered sugar and bursting with zesty lemon flavor.

Sounds good, but I'm not sure it can compete with the Caramel deLite/Samoa or the Thin Mint.  Those are my two favorites with the Trefoil/Shortbread coming in third.  Try the Thin Mint frozen!

And here's a question that always seems to come up.  Why does the same Girl Scout cookie have more than one name?  We have the answer from girlscouts.org:

Girl Scout Councils choose their licensed baker, either Little  Brownie Bakers or ABC Bakers. Each of  the bakers owns its cookie names, except Thin Mint, which is in the common  domain. So a cookie like the Trefoil /  Shortbread may look and taste similar, but your local Girl Scout council  determines which one will be on the market when they select their baker.
