A website dedicated to helping people out financially, NerdWallet, recently did a study to find the best small cities in America based on economic health, affordability, and quality of life. Based on the idea that the people who are looking for somewhere to buy a house and settle down, most are looking for somewhere that is not too big but yet also not too small. Well, one city in Michigan makes this Midwest heavy list.

NerdWallet looked at over a thousand cities that have a population of less than 75,000 residents. Using information they got from the U.S. Census Bureau's American Community Survey, they found that the main thing about the best small cities in America is that they are most likely located in the Midwest and also most likely college towns.

West Michigan is full of small cities that are great to live in, and although Grand Rapids does not make this list because its population is just over double the population size used for this list, it did make a different, recent list of overlooked small cities. However, a different small city in Michigan that you may not expect did make the list. Check out the full list below, and you can also see NerdWallet's reasons for why each city makes the list here.
