The home improvement program is available for residents of Muskegon County.

The grant payments are made to the contractors so that they can remediate any hazards to the home.

If the fixes include lead paint removal, bathroom safety, mold, or pest issues, the city of Muskegon will be receiving that help.

In a statement, Muskegon Community Neighborhood Services Grants Program Coordinator Stevie Parcell said,

"These grants will allow us to improve the lives of even more citizens in the greater Muskegon community by providing homeowners the resources needed to address household hazards that negatively impact health."

You are eligible to receive a grant if you live in your own single-family house. If you are not in good standing on your property taxes, you will not be eligible.

All city citizens with disabilities, adults older than 62, or children younger than 6 years old will be prioritized first.

As of now, the estimated number of homeowners that will receive the grants is 150.

If you want to receive a grant application, you can go online, inside the Muskegon City Hall lobby, through email ( cnsmail@shorelinecity.com ), or through the mail.
