New Airline To Start Offering Direct Flights From Kalamazoo To Orlando

Traveling can be hectic, especially if you have to travel a distance to get to the airport. But one south west Michigan airport is adding an airline and flight route that could make it a little easier to escape town and stick your toes in the sand, especially if you live in Kalamazoo.

The Kalamazoo / Battle Creek International Airport (AZO) announced this week that they are welcoming a new airline, which will bring a new destination to travelers based in south west Michigan.

What new airline is coming to AZO?

Avelo Airlines announced they will begin flying direct from Kalamazoo / Battle Creek International Airport to Orlando, Florida, starting on Wednesday, October 26th.

Avelo is originally based in Burbank, California, but they've brought their planes specifically to south west Michigan because they know how much we love to travel to Florida.

Kalamazoo/Battle Creek International Airport Director Craig Williams said,

Southwest Michiganders love traveling to Florida, and this nonstop service to Orlando is going to be very popular with our passengers. Avelo’s ultra-low fare pricing model makes a great vacation to the sun fun and affordable.

When will the flights be, and how much will they cost?

The airline plans to have an inaugural flight on Wednesday Oct 26th, but after that the airline will run on Mondays and Fridays, with one flight leaving from Kalamazoo leaving at 8:50pm and arriving in Orlando at 11:20pm, and a return flight from Orlando taking off at 5:25p and arriving in Kalamazoo at 8:05pm

Each flight will start at $59 before taxes and fees, making it possible to take a week long getaway without breaking your budget.

What sort of planes are Avelo flights using?

According to their release, Avelo says the new routes will operate on Boeing Next-Generation 737-700 (147 seats) and 737-800 (189 seats) aircraft.

When will flights go on sale?
