If you were out to dinner in West Michigan on Thursday night, you might have unknowingly crossed paths with one of the most lovable characters in modern TV history.

Actor Jim O’Heir, best known for playing sweet, perpetually anxious Jerry Gergich on Parks and Recreation, was spotted enjoying dinner at Amore Trattoria Italiana on Thursday, February 26, 2026, ahead of his appearance at Wealthy Theatre tonight.

The sighting came courtesy of Chef Jenna, who shared the moment on Facebook. Locals already know her as a beloved figure in the community, not just for her food but for her heart, thanks to her charity Food Hugs.

Of course, the gentlest member of one of TV’s most chaotic casts would end up at a restaurant run by someone known for feeding people and the community in equal measure.

Chef Jenna called O’Heir “the loveliest human,” which tracks if you have ever watched a single episode of Parks and Recreation. Social media posts also showed him proudly showing off a Food Hugs shirt, which is on brand for fans who love seeing his TV kindness recognized and returned in real life.

O’Heir, who has also appeared on shows like Brooklyn Nine-Nine, returned the love on his Instagram story. He praised the meal as some of the most authentic Italian food he has ever had, which longtime Amore fans will tell you is not an exaggeration.

It is always fun when a celebrity comes through town, but this one feels especially on brand for the Grand Rapids area. A genuinely kind actor. A restaurant rooted in community. A charity shirt making the rounds. And all of it happening quietly over dinner the night before a show.

If you are heading to the Wealthy Theatre tonight for his conversation with Grand Rapids comedian and writer Virginia Anzengruber, just know that Jerry had a very good local meal before taking the stage.
