Take A Sip: 10 Cups Of Coffee You Need To Try In Grand Rapids
It's national coffee day, and for a lot of people in West Michigan (like me) every day can be considered coffee day, because we can't live without it.
And while you have to grab that caffeine to get through your day, that doesn't mean you can't have a cup of coffee that you actually enjoy. Grand Rapids has a lot of great options that are owned locally that can give you exactly what you need to get going, without sacrifice.
1. The Lantern
While you have several options downtown on where to get a cup of coffee, the Lantern always just gets it.
Their cold brew is great, the dining area is perfectly out of the line of downtown windows so you can forget where you are for a few, and on Monday - Wednesday they have an early bird special that can't be beat.
2. Sparrow Coffee
With two locations, if you're the type of person who loves unique coffee flavors: their coffee menu can't be beat. They always have 4-5 rotating seasonal drinks, and if you're into astrology: they offer a drink based on the sign of the month.
And if you happen to be a person who loves tea too, they have a great selection of alternative fun drinks on their menu as well.
3. Madcap
This coffee shop is famous for their cups, so it's easy to see why they're a top choice. And if Justin Bieber is willing to fly across the country just to have a cup, you know it has to be good.
If you're looking for something "frou frou", this may not be your place. But if you're looking for one of the most respectable cups in West Michigan, this is your choice hands down.
4. The Bitter End
One of Grand Rapids only places to get coffee 24/7 is The Bitter End, and there's nothing bitter about their brew.
This friendly coffee shop located just blocks from downtown is the perfect place to grab a cup to a wake up after everyone else is closed for the evening (or not open yet for the day.)
5. Morning Ritual
Sometimes you just need a place to find some peace, and Morning Ritual offers that without a doubt.
With multiple locations, not only do they offer a simple and clean coffee menu, they're the perfect place to sit with a book and enjoy the morning.
6. Shift Coffee + Culture
Coffee can be for a cause- and that's exactly what Shift does.
All of their products sold come from minority owned businesses, and they have a mission of supporting minority owned businesses one coffee at a time. So if you want to know you did some good while getting your daily charge, they're a go to.
7. Rowsters
This Grand Rapids based roaster has been making their coffee locally since 2005, and it shows.
Not only can you buy their beans for at home brews if you don't want to visit their shop on Wealthy, support our community by providing schools and organizations a fundraising program with our coffee is a great way for us to help!
8. The Mortals
This coffee shop has some crazy cool vibes. If you're looking for something off the beaten path, you should try their Vietnamese coffee.
They also offer Tarot Card readings on Tuesdays, which really sets a fun tone for the day with your brew of choice in hand.
9. Ferris Coffee
You've likely spotted this brand in Meijer stores around West Michigan, but you've gotta stop in and let them make a cup for you.
They also offer a ton of flavors of nuts and trail mixes, so grab a snack and enjoy your sip.
10. The Stray
This is another great spot if you want "after hours" coffee. Not only do they turn into a small venue at night with a great menu of eats.
the best thing? this is one of the only places in grand rapids you can get an affogato, which is just ice cream with a shot of espresso on top and it's AMAZING. can't recommend enough.
