Did You Know That Michigan Has Its Very Own Bermuda Triangle?
Throughout legends and pop culture, I believe that everyone has heard of The Bermuda Triangle.
You've seen the stories and reports of plane crashes, alien abductions, and disappearances like Amelia Earhart.
What if I told you that our state of Michigan has its own mysterious triangle?
Lake Michigan has its very own mysterious triangle of disappearances, ship wreckage, and missing airplanes.
Where is The Michigan Triangle?
The part of Lake Michigan that many deem a problem starts at Benton Harbor connects to Ludington, Michigan, and ends off at Manitowoc, Wisconsin.
The Start of The Legend of The Michigan Triangle
The ship, the Thomas Hume, set sail in Lake Michigan in 1891 with a lumber delivery. Unfortunately, the ship never made it across the lake. As of today, there have not been any sightings of the ship or the captain and its crew members.
The Rosa Belle Shipwreck
In 1921, eleven people were leaving on the Rosa Belle. A few days after it left Benton Harbor, the boat was found upside down in Lake Michigan but none of the passengers were recovered. It seemed like the Rosa Belle had collided with another boat, however, there were no reports of other boat wreckages.
The Strange Lights & The Disappearance of Flight 2501
With 58 passengers, Northwest Flight 2501 left from LaGuardia Airport in New York so it can reach its destination of Seattle, Washington on June 23rd,1950. With its flight path, the airplane had to cross Lake Michigan before it had a layover in Minneapolis.
When the place was roughly 18 miles north of Benton Harbor, the pilot of Flight 2501 sent the command center a report that the plane was in a powerful electrical storm. So, he asked if he could descend the plane to 2,500 feet. Right after the report, Flight 2501 disappeared from the command center's radars.
As of today, the plane and its wreckage have not been found. However, in a creepy coincidence, roughly two hours after Flight 2501 disappeared, two police officers stated that they saw a bright red light hovering over Lake Michigan for 10 MINUTES!
There are so many other stories of disappearances that have happened in the Michigan Triangle.
