Hi, I’m Steve and I’m a new Dad who has learned a lot of things over the last several months and I want to pass along some knowledge to you!

Each week I will be giving you some new tips for first-time parents and one spectacular Dad joke!  So let's get to the tips!

  1. Today's first Daddy Tip is a trick I've learned when I need to keep Charlotte busy for a little bit while I do some chores.  It's hard keeping a toddler's attention for longer than a few minutes but what I've learned is that kids absolutely love water and bottles.  So I've taken a bunch of old water bottles and filled them up with different amounts of water and Charlotte just loves them.  She shakes them, rolls them, throws them, and then shakes them some more and these makeshift toys kept her busy for almost 30 minutes.  You can even throw in some glitter or small toys in the water too so they look cool!
  2. The next Daddy Tip is actually a few tips for when your baby is sick with a stomach bug.  First, if your little one is vomiting, milk is probably not the best fluid to give to your child.  When Charlotte was sick, we learned that milk would make her puke more, so we switched to water and juice for most of the day and that seemed to work much better.  And secondly, if and when you do give them milk, try not to hold them or carry them much directly afterward.  Brittainy learned the hard way that babies with the flu make cottage cheese in their tummies and they really want to show it to you.  All over your shirt and face.
  3. And the final Daddy Tip of the week is all about daycare.  You might have heard me constantly talking about how babies get sick at daycare and they spread around germs, but I just want to say that is really the only negative we've come across when it comes to Charlotte's daycare.  I just want to give a shoutout to all the workers who make Charlotte's daily experience amazing and want them to know that us parents really appreciate everything you do on a daily basis.  We love and trust everyone we've met from our daycare and are happy to say that Charlotte does too!  So thank you for looking after our fussy, sneezy, coughy, screamy, slappy, poopy, kids.

And now it's time for an awesome dad joke!

Q: Why do ducks have feathers?
A: So they can cover up their butt quacks!
