Boxes, Walks, and Daycare – Steve’s Daddy Tips (4-22-20)
We are almost a month into the stay at home order and things are getting pretty hectic with the whole entertaining your toddler thing.
- The first Daddy Tip of the week is a great way to entertain your kid since they are stuck in quarantine. If you have some old boxes laying around and some wrapping paper or newspapers, just start putting old toys in them and wrapping them up. In fact, if you put a box inside a box inside a box and wrap each of them, it can entertain them for a little while. And believe me, I know how hard it’s getting to entertain those little ones all day every day.
- The next Daddy Tip of the week is to limit what you bring with you when you go on walks with your toddler. I don’t know how many times in the last week I’ve ended up carrying Charlotte’s tricycle halfway home because she got bored. Please Charlotte, can you just ride your bike? And if your kiddo wants to bring other things on their walk like a backpack, or a hat, just be aware that you will carry those as well. Oh and finally, on top of carrying all of that, you’ll most likely be carrying your toddler for a portion of that walk too. Charlotte please just walk and wear your backpack!
- And the final Daddy Tip of the week is for anyone who will be sending their child back to daycare after the stay at home order is lifted. Teach them to do something super weird that their teachers will think is hilarious. For Charlotte, I chose to teach her to say goodbye to her poop. Yeah that’s right, whenever she drops a stinky one, she now says bye bye poo poo. I’m hoping that this will give her teachers a what the heck moment and a good laugh when she returns.
And now it’s time for an awesome Dad Joke!
