Bubble Baths, Ear Wax, and Repeating – Steve’s Daddy Tips (12-16-20)
Steve learned a valuable lesson that he wanted to share during this week's Daddy Tips. It's about your kid repeating what you say, but it's not about watching your swearing.
- Today’s first Daddy Tip is a simple one for any parents of toddlers who like to take bubble baths. Always use kids bubble bath soap and never ever use adult bubble bath soap. Why? Because if your toddler is anything like Charlotte, they like to drink the bathwater when you aren’t looking, and the bubbles are like little magnets for their eyes and always seem to find a way to irritate them. So, if your little one craves the bubble bath, make sure that you have the bubble bath soap for kids.
- The next Daddy Tip is all about earwax. Check your toddlers and newborns ears for ear wax because that stuff can get nasty. Think about it, these kids of yours never clean their own ears, so you need to check them out frequently. Never use a q-tip on the kids though, just clean off any wax outside of the ear canal with a tissue and then if you have a bulb syringe, you can clean out any wax that isn’t deep in the ear canal. It might be a bit intimidating to do, but you need to keep those ears clean. I don’t know how many times the pediatrician had to spend 5 minutes cleaning my daughters ears so she could look in them before we got the hint.
- And the final Daddy Tip of the week is one that I have said before but I want to say it again for a different reason. Toddlers will repeat whatever you say. So, you might think I’m going to say watch your swearing, but I’ve already said that before and we do watch our swearing around Charlotte now. So, this warning is to just be mindful of anything you say a lot that you might want your little one to repeat in public.
And now it’s time for an awesome Dad Joke!
