Cannonsburg Ski Area Sets Opening Date as West Michigan Gets Buried in Snow
If it feels like West Michigan has been buried under several winters’ worth of snow in just a few weeks… you’re not imagining it. And if you’re anything like me, you probably don’t have a great sledding hill in your backyard. But you do have Cannonsburg, and they’re gearing up for opening day.
Cannonsburg Ski Area has officially announced that their hills are projected to open this Friday, December 12, giving all of us a chance to finally put this snowfall to good use.
Whether you’re dusting off your skis, busting out your snowboard to take a peek of the view, or just looking for a safe, fun place to get the kids outside, Cannonsburg is one of Michigan’s most popular winter spots for a reason.
The Tubing Hill (always a family favorite) doesn’t have an official opening date yet, but Cannonsburg says it’s coming in mid-december. Also, if you’re planning to go back a bunch, they also offer a season pass.
And if you’re not in the mood to ski but still want a little winter magic, The Winter Forest is back.
It’s a lighted walk through the woods filled with glowing displays, holiday scenes, and even a few classic characters tucked between the trees. You can wander at your own pace and go through as many times as you’d like during the evening. Tickets are $10, and kids 2 and under get in free (Just make sure to buy your admission before 8 pm)
With this much snow on the ground, getting out of the house and into something fun feels like a small win, so you might as well make the most of what we have plenty of: snow and cold.
