Kum & Gone: Casey’s Officially Takes Over West Michigan
It’s the end of an era for one of the more memorable-named gas stations in West Michigan: Kum & Go has officially come and gone.
If you’ve driven by what used to be a Kum & Go in the Grand Rapids area lately, you might’ve noticed the familiar red-and-gray signs have been swapped out for Casey’s.
The Iowa-based convenience store and pizza chain confirmed it has officially acquired eight former Kum & Go locations across West Michigan, marking the complete exit of the Kum & Go brand from the state.
So, you should start seeing those rebranded locations popping up everywhere if they aren’t already switched like the one in Grandville and in Walker.
The switch includes:
• 2134 Alpine Ave NW, Walker
• 3325 Plainfield Ave NE, Grand Rapids
• 5437 Division Ave S, Wyoming
• 777 54th St SW, Wyoming
• 4800 44th St SW, Grandville
• 4560 Chicago Dr SW, Grandville
• 5215 Kalamazoo Ave SE, Kentwood
• 860 52nd St SE, Kentwood
Kum & Go was first acquired by Utah-based Maverik in 2023, and soon after, Maverik announced it would retire the Kum & Go name altogether. Casey’s then stepped in and purchased several of those Maverik-owned properties earlier this year, officially bringing its growing Midwest brand further into Michigan.
So while you won’t see the Kum & Go name around anymore, you’ll now find Casey’s pizza, breakfast sandwiches, and made-to-order drinks where those stores used to be. (and it’s a change that might make saying goodbye to that iconic name just a little easier.)
