BigXthaPlug To Headline GVSU’s Spring Concert This April
Grand Valley State University knows how to make an announcement.
On Saturday night, during the 40th annual President’s Ball at 20 Monroe Live, the university revealed who will headline its Spring Concert this year.Drumroll please….
Grand Valley State University has officially booked BigXthaPlug to perform at the GVSU Fieldhouse on April 10.
If you have been watching where music is heading lately, this is a huge win for GVSU students and music fans alike.
BigXthaPlug has built his career in rap, but he is also part of a larger shift happening across genres right now. He has been featured on songs with country artists like Luke Combs, Ella Langley, Bailey Zimmerman, Shaboozey and Post Malone, all artists who are stretching what country and hip hop can look like. That crossover appeal has opened him up to a wider audience than a traditional rap act might have seen even a few years ago.
The show will take place at the GVSU Fieldhouse on April 10, giving students a something awesome to look forward to once it starts to warm up here in West Michigan. Great news if you’re a GVSU Student, because student tickets are already available now. Faculty, staff, alumni and the general public will be able to purchase tickets beginning March 7th.
There is also something worth noting about where the announcement happened. Revealing the Spring Concert artist during President’s Ball, in front of a crowd already gathered for one of the university’s most established traditions, shows they knew that this is would be a moment that makes headlines.
Campus concerts have changed over the years. They are no longer just about landing a recognizable radio name. They are about booking artists who reflect what students are actually streaming, sharing and talking about. BigXthaPlug fits perfectly into that mold.
For students counting down to April 10, this is shaping up to be one of those nights that you won’t forget- and for everyone else hoping to grab a ticket on March 7, it might be smart to plan ahead before they sell out.
