Christmas Gifts, Chili, And The Holidays – Steve’s Daddy Tips (12-19-18)
Hi, I’m Steve and I’m a new Dad who has learned a lot of things over the last several months and I want to pass along some knowledge to you!
Each week I will be giving you some new tips for first-time parents and one spectacular Dad joke! So let's get to the tips!
- Today’s first daddy tip is what to get your baby for Christmas. Sure, Santa will be bringing most of the gifts, but you still need to get at least one or two gifts. But what do you get for a baby or a toddler? That’s simple, get something that you like to play with. Building blocks like DUPLO? Awesome choice, they are fun to play with and help with your kid’s motor skills and problem-solving. Stackable teething rings? Boring! What is she gonna learn from that? Boats to play with during bathtime? Perfect! Everyone loves playing with boats in the tub! So, basically, I’m saying, get stuff you enjoy because your kid really won’t know the difference and if you don’t have fun playing with her toys, she probably won’t have that much fun either.
- The next daddy tip is how to properly introduce your little one to the wide world of chili. Once your baby starts eating the same stuff you eat, you’ll be giving them a bite or two or seven of what you’re eating and that’s fine. With a few exceptions… Chili is one of them. We gave Charlotte chili for the first time over the weekend and she absolutely loved it. So, we gave her a whole meal of it. Bad idea! Charlotte was exploding all weekend long. Stinky farts, poonamis, you name it. So, when you are giving your baby chili for the first time, do it in moderation, or else you’ll have a stinky poo-filled few days.
- The final daddy tip of the week is to be sure that you make the holidays magical for your little one. It could be their first, second, or even third holiday season, but that doesn’t matter, the only thing that matters is that your kids have a good time. The holidays are a very special time for kids and families, and you want your kids to have good memories. So no matter what you do, be sure to put your little one first and foremost this holiday season. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone from Charlotte, Britt and Me!
And now it’s time for an awesome dad joke!
Sorry, I don't have a dad joke today because I was up too late reading a book on the history of glue… I wanted to go to sleep, but I just couldn’t seem to put it down.
