Protect Yourself and Your Wallet: Michigan’s “Click It or Ticket” Is Back
Police in Michigan are going to be looking for drivers and some of their passengers who are not wearing a seat belt and reward them with a $65 ticket for breaking the law.

The "Click It or Ticket" campaign is running from from today, Monday, May 19th, through Sunday, June 1st. Police will be focusing a lot on this during the Memorial Day weekend.
There is a good reason for police to be looking for unbuckled motorists.
Seat Belts Save Lives
The big push behind "Click It or Ticket" and other seat belt laws is to help save motorist lives along with their passengers.
Data from the Michigan State Police (MSP) show just how much wearing a seat belt matters.

For starters if you're the passenger in the front seat and the vehicle is involved in a serious crash, wearing a seat belt can reduce the risk of fatal injury by as much as 45%.
And if you look back at the stats from 1975 when the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) first began keeping track of this data.
Seat belts have saved 344,448 lives since 1975, it's sad to think that if everyone had been wearing a seat belt since then, an additional 381,787 people might still be alive.
