Could Michigan Soon Upset Wisconsin As The Cheesiest State?
It may happen as Glanbia Nutritionals, an Irish company, plans to open up shop in Michigan.
As Gov. Snyder mentioned in his 2017 State of the State, our state is second only to Colorado for milk production with our almost 420,000 dairy cows, which is why Glanbia Nutritionals plans to start a cheddar cheese production facility here in Michigan.
MLive reported the project was announced in a press release from company official, Brian Phelan:
"Consistent with Glanbia's growth strategy, this proposed venture will build on our position as the number one producer of American- style cheddar cheese and simultaneously expand our global position as a supplier of advanced technology whey protein to the nutritional sector," Phelan said.
Michigan’s milk industry brings $15.7billion of revenue a year; and products from our state are in demand worldwide.
