Cuddles, Spelling, and Chores – Steve’s Daddy Tips (5-22-19)
Hi, I’m Steve and I’m a new Dad who has learned a lot of things over the last several months and I want to pass along some knowledge to you!
Each week I will be giving you some new tips for first-time parents and one spectacular Dad joke! So let's get to the tips!
- Today’s first Daddy Tip is a little trick to get some extra cuddles out of your little one. After your baby learns to walk they’ll want to be walking around exploring most of the time and they won’t want to cuddle as often. That’s when the vacuum comes into play. Whenever Brittainy vacuums, it’s free cuddles the whole time! Charlotte gets scared of the vacuum and will clutch on to me so tight while it’s running so I make sure that I get those extra cuddles while the gettin’s good!
- The next Daddy Tip is a good way to weird out your friends and family. First you’ll need some baby toys that have letters on them, like ABC blocks or those foam letters for bathtime. After you have those toys just go ahead and spell weird things with them and claim to everyone that Charlotte did it. I love giving Charlotte a bath and spelling things like “redrum” or “I know what you did” in foam letters and leaving them for Britt to discover. Spooky!
- And the final Daddy Tip of the week is fun way you can put your toddler to work! Charlotte loves imitating us, so whenever we are cleaning something we always give her a go at it after she watches us do it. After several times watching us swiffer the floor, she now grabs that swiffer and cleans the floors all on her own! Sure, she doesn’t do the best job, but if you want a 5 minute break, Charlotte is there to pick up the slack and keep going while you have your rest. Yay for free child labor!
And now it’s time for an awesome Dad Joke!
