Last year, the Detroit Tigers made an incredible push to the postseason, exciting fans and surprising many who thought they had no chance of making it.

Skeptics (myself included) had a right to believe the Tigers would not make the playoffs.

The Tigers, who were eight games under .500 and 10 games back in the wild-card race with a 0.2% chance to make the playoffs, were able to make the postseason for the first time since 2014 less than 50 days later.
After beating the Houston Astros in the wild-card series, they were eventually eliminated from the postseason by the Cleveland Guardians.

While it was not the way Tigers fans had hoped for things to turn out, the late-season playoff push gave hope that the Tigers would do some great things next year.

Tigers manager A.J. Hinch shared in a press conference on Friday that Matt Vierling will miss the start of the season due to a strained rotator cuff in his right shoulder.
Last season, he ended with a career-best 16 home runs and 57 RBIs in 144 games.
It's unknown how much of the start of the season he will miss, but hopefully, the team can find a way to win while he rests and recovers.
